2012 Draft

Never listen or read any of the draft experts when they say who the Giants will pick. When were they right? JPP in the first round, or take Prince...who saw that happening? What I think would be the best for the Giants would be Vontaze Burfict...we need a crazy backer who will make a difference quick. He big he is nasty and we need that. I know we need O-linemen, but we need linebackers quick. Goff is not gonna cut it. Burfict would be that "head-case" that we need, only if they can contain him from being stupid when the play is over. Second, Lamar Miller from the U. Great speed and since Jacobs is gone after the season is over we need a running back. Third go for O-linemen. fill in the little holes. Tell me what you think...love to here from you guys maybe go back and forth with some great football talk. Giants rule...I'm out.

    Re: 2012 Draft

A lot of analysts predicted KP, Nicks, and JPP. Prince was a surprise because he fell, not because they didn't think the Giants would draft a CB.

We needed safety play badly in following 2007, and KP was slated a late-round 1st rounder. Following 2008, we really needed a receiver after Plax went down. Crabtree, Harvin, and Maclin were all predicted to go before Nicks, and it was a toss-up between Britt and Nicks. Most predicted Nicks. As for JPP, they simply saw a raw DE falling into the Giants lap, and knew Reese wouldn't pass up the opportunity to draft another DE.

The only real surprise was Prince, and that's because he was projected a top 10 pick.

Your right, but what I was trying to say is not the postion but the player they say we are going to pick. M ost experts know what teams need but Reese I would like to think goes for the best player on the board.

Tell me something good and objective about Burfict other than he can hit pretty hard and shed some blocks.

Athletic. more athletic than any of our linebackers...except maybe Boley. Will make an impact right out of camp. Awesome closing speed. Great tackling..( Jahvid best, LaMichael James) Fearless. Ray lewis type. I think we would have loved to have a Ray Lewis on the Giants...A middle Linebacker that will be in the middle for 10,12,13 years. I know that he is a wild card..I know this. But you are telling me that he wouldnt be a tackling machine and a huge upgrade. Hightower, and that Kid from BC will be gone before our pick comes. I do think that we will pick an O linemen or maybe a saftey, but I have watched and watched this Burfict kid and he is a great one of a kind linebacker, the only reason he is not on top of everbody's boards is because of his personal fouls and him being a head case hard to control player. He would be number 1 or 2. Why? You don't think Burfict would be a great linebacker for the Giants?
Tell me something good and objective about Burfict other than he can hit pretty hard and shed some blocks.
He's not a liability in coverage cause he takes good drops, Has great speed and agility to go with ideal size 6"2 245, Has no problem taking the vocal leader role, plays with great fire and makes good tackles, can make the "Wow" plays.

I honestly didn't like the kid alot until I rewatched some tape and though his tape this year wasn't as good as last year you have to admit some of the plays he made last year would be ridiculous to repeat again. As for his attitude. this is the New York Giants locker room, coaching staff, and players we're talking about. they can straighten him out.

That's not the point though. Everyone knows that he's worth a 1st rounder based on potential, but his character concerns are VERY alarming. His coach, who coached Ray Lewis, benched him from a bowl game! He is going to be very hard to be tamed.

It was expected that he return to school after that bad year he had. Some speculate him entering may be a sign of falling out from coaches. Even without all the character concerns, he just didn't look good at all playing football.

I am a firm believer in the character system that Reese and Coughlin have built here and I am 100% sure that they could keep him in check without limiting his fire.
