Five Things We Learned From Jerry Reese

    http://www.giants.com/news-and-blogs...0-53c22c574058

"1. The draft stands alone. The Giants have been one of the most active teams in free agency this season, filling holes and shoring up positions with more than a dozen additions to the roster. Some may think that would affect Jerry Reese’s draft plans, but the general manager reiterated they are separate entities. “It really doesn’t have a lot of effect on it,” Reese said. “The draft is what it is, it stands alone. We try to take the best players we can in the draft and really, in free agency you try to fill some holes, but in the draft you just try to pick the best players. That’s what we try to do.”

    2. Nassib will get a lot of work this spring and compete for the No. 2 spot. While Eli Manning recovers from an ankle procedure and eyes a training camp return, that opens up the competition behind him, including second-year quarterback Ryan Nassib. “We like Nassib,” Reese said. “He hasn’t really had a chance to do a lot for us, so we’re going to take a real good look at him in the spring. But we think he’s still a good player. He hasn’t had a chance to really play yet, so he’s going to get a lot of work this spring and obviously he’ll get a lot of work in the preseason, along with Curtis Painter, there’s competition, and Josh Freeman.”

    3. Giants picked up fifth-year option on Amukamara. The Giants have exercised their fifth-year option on the contract of cornerback Prince Amukamara, who started all 16 games last season. Reese was asked why and had a simple answer in regards to the fourth-year pro: “We think he’s a good player so we exercised the option.”

    4. Charles Brown is “probably” the backup left tackle. Reese was asked about who is currently No. 2 behind Will Beatty, who is working back from a fractured leg that he sustained in the 2013 season finale. “We brought some offensive linemen in,” Reese said. “The kid from New Orleans [Charles Brown] that we brought in, he played a lot of football there. Right now he’s probably the next option there behind Will. You could even move [Justin] Pugh over there if you wanted to. [James] Brewer is a kid that has talent to play out there if we had to play him out there.” Last month we broke down which positions the Giants’ current offensive linemen have played in the past, and Brown has 14 starts at left tackle, the most behind Beatty’s 42.

    5. Reese is more open to taking risks in latter rounds. When asked if his risk tolerance goes up as he moves deeper into the draft, Reese said, “You try to pick the cleanest guy possible in your first few rounds but you get later in the draft, guys have some warts to them in some kind of way in respect to injuries or maybe some off-the-field issues. You feel like you can take a risk on some guys, some talented players with some risk in the latter part of the draft. You try to limit the risk with the first part of your draft.”

“Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.” MB Rule # 1

That's BPA literally spelled out... Can't be any more clear than that.

That has been their position for a long time.

That's the position of an overwhelming majority of the teams. It's like a religion.

TE's: Kevin Boss, Travis Beckum, Adrien Robinson
G: Hereman and the crazy guy who got cut - the one who ran on the field after getting playing time. (can't remember his name)
OT's: Mosley, Pugh, Beatty, Brewer, McCantt's ....drawing a blank on last one.

I'm missing three players on offense. Don't feel like doing defense.

OL: Adam Koets- part of that amazing 2007 draft class

WR: Ramses Barden- the tall one.

OL: Mitch Petrus: The bad salsa imitator.

Reese pumping up Nassib's value. That is what a guy should do who reached for someone using two picks when his team needed anything but a QB. I believe in the greater fool theory. Maybe we'll find a greater fool to take him off our hands.
No one remembers who came in second.
