Whatever the Oline looks like, the team needs to make this a priority. Eli's horrors can be remedied if the guys in front of him can do the job. I had a bad feeling going into last year, and although the line looks very different this year, I am not convinced that we have fixed the holes yet... I am hopeful, but I am tired of watching Eli get destroyed by opponents' pass-rushers.
Lot's of agreement here. I'm all for trading back, we can definitely use more picks. 2 draft picks to help with the immediate, as well as the future of our oline, will make everyone more confident in the talent there.
Do not feed the trolls.
It is unfathomable to me that people actually think that any rookie Left Tackle that the Giants will have the ability to select at 12 can just be inserted if Beatty is not healthy or continues to stink and all our problems will be solved at that spot. Pugh worked out last year at the Right Tackle spot but that was damn lucky as most rookie tackles selected beyond the top 2 or 3 (at most) OT's in the draft struggle mightily and may actually be a downgrade over what even Beatty provided last year. I guess people are fine with Eli getting demolished again all season. smh. Beatty is capable of playing better than last year and for the money he's being paid he has to and knowing Coughlin's approach to the O-line, I fully expect Beatty to be the starter if he is 100% come week 1. Any draft pick selected in the top 15 is going to make a ton of money too. Do any of you really think the Giants can afford to pay Beatty and an OT selected 12th overall? Also, when you consider the Schwartz contract, that's a ton of money invested into two spots (just the left ones at that) on the O-line.

I agree with your basic premise that finding a LT to just step in right away is highly unlikely. Still, Beatty set such a low bar last year a rookie upgrade there is not out of the question. Plus, who said the draft would necessarily be a one for one swap at LT? We could draft a RT and give Pugh a try at LT or see what some of the new FAs might be able to do. I just think that counting on Beatty for anything is lunacy and could kill another season for us.
We should view anything good we get from Beatty this year as found money.
No one remembers who came in second.
Beatty is simply going to have to be told that his contract guarantees nothing as far as playing time goes, IMO he will have to beat out the competition to be a starter
