Excerpt: "Almost every team brings in a second kicker and punter during training camp to prevent their prospective starters from tiring their legs out. The Giants have Brandon McManus, a 22-year-old kicker out of Temple who spent time with the Indianapolis Colts last year.
McManus kicked extremely well at the Florham Park regional combine back in 2013 and earned some attention from pro scouts. He's in East Rutherford this summer alongside Josh Brown, the incumbent starter who signed a two-year $2.6 million deal this offseason.
But when asked about the situation, special teams coordinator Tom Quinn made it seem like McManus was more than just a camp leg.
"I think everything is a competition. I really like McManus, I liked him coming out," he said. "He went to Indy for last training camp and preseason and I thought he was really a good kicker coming out of Temple.
