Yeah, there's something significant about that number 27 alright. What, I have no idea.

Maybe the Yankee hating soccer boy can help us out.

Make a line for offsides like hockey if you dont want players hovering around the goal. Give a yellow card to floppers instead of just ignoring it.
What's wrong with the offside rule? If it didn't exist the game would lack structure. As for visible lines, they're overlaid during replays. It would be incredibly distracting to add them during live play.

Diving has nothing at all to do with weakness - it's used to milk penalties from a referee that can't always see exactly what's going on. Football/soccer isn't structured entirely around television the way that typical US sports are; matches aren't stopped and started in 30-second intervals, so referees can only call what they see. They don't have the luxury of looping replays on big screens, or booths to jump in so they can evaluate tape. They have to make decisions on the spot, so unfortunately, they're often wrong. It's hard to change this without disrupting the flow of the game, and that takes priority over everything else. It's why FIFA are so reluctant to meddle in that area, and why goal-line technology is only a recent addition.

FIFA are corrupt as hell, though. Sepp Blatter got rightly booed during the final's cup ceremony, the guy has to go.

Baseball should be declared dead and relegated to the smithsonian. A slow game born and flourished in a bygone era
