THE FIFTH DOWN: STRAHAN JOINS SAME SEX MARRIAGE CAMPAIGN

Excerpt: "Michael Strahan, the former Giants’ defensive end, has joined the quest to
legalize same-sex marriage in New York.

Following the lead of about three dozen politicians and celebrities,
including hockey player Sean Avery and basketball player Steve Nash, Strahan
filmed a public-service announcement in support of the New Yorkers for Marriage
Equality campaign.

“As a defensive end for the New York Giants, I always played the game tough
but fair,” Strahan said in
a video recorded earlier this week with his fiancée, Nicole Murphy. “It’s
unfair to stop committed couples from getting married.”

The New York State Legislature, which voted against marriage for same-sex
couples in 2009, is taking up the issue again. A vote is expected before the
annual session closes on June 20.

Most of the celebrity endorsers of the same-sex marriage campaign are
politicians or members of the entertainment, theater or fashion industries.: Read more...

I agree with you. Good for him.

Still, there is a TINY part of me that sees a small irony in this, given his ex wife's outrageous charges vs Michael during their divorce proceedings. Don't you? (I'd be willing to bet Michael himself, privately, does as well.)

I new he was with Murphy, but would not of been surprised if this was his way of coming out of the closet. hahaha.

well I guess I'm the odd man out.

Welcome to the 21st century and all that, but I am very "Traditional-Minded."

I am not surprised by his actions as he is a high-profile Celeb and Ex-Pro Athlete and yet...

I ain't mad at you Stray. It is what it is and Social Change is afoot.

I don't know what his motivation is but private lives are, private.

Again, I totally agree with you.

However, what I refer to is what Strahan wrote himself, in his book. It was reported as news at the time, as well. As we all know by now, if not before, a public figure pretty much forfeits any private life they might wish they had. I don't agree that that SHOULD be the case, but it is a fact of life today.
