Wide receiver/return specialist Ted Ginn Jr. won’t play in today’s NFC Championship Game because of a knee injury he sustained in the 49ers’ win last Saturday against the New Orleans Saints. Tight end Delanie Walker is active for the first time since his Dec. 24 jaw breaker.
Kyle Williams likely will replace Ginn as the punt returner and starting wide receiver, and he possibly will handle kickoff returns with Kendall Hunter. Williams looked comfortable in the return role Dec. 24 at Seattle until he got knocked out on a fourth-quarter kickoff return.
Also inactive for the 49ers: fullback Moran Norris, quarterback Scott Tolzien, guard Daniel Kilgore, offensive tackle Mike Person, cornerback Shawntae Spencer and*defensive tackle Ian Williams.
Out for the Giants are defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy, linebacker Mark Herzlich, wide receiver Ramses Barden (how dare they sit a Cal Poly guy!), center Jim Cordle, defensive end Justin Trattou and tackle James Brewer.
Two Giants lineup changes: Jason Pierre-Paul will start at right defensive end in place of Osi Umenyiora, and fullback Henry Hynoski is in for former 49er Bear Pascoe.
