MMQB: Stat of the week - TC vs Levy....

Even though Levy never won a SB, I always thought of him as being a top tier coach.

    Stat of the Week
The Strange Case of Tom Coughlin vs. Marv Levy:
I'm one of the 44 Hall of Fame voters, and it's hard not to see how eerie the numbers are when you compare Levy (Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2001) to Coughlin .... making it hard to see how Coughlin is not going to have a pretty fair argument to be bronzed one day -- particularly if he coaches at a high level for another two or three years.
Comparing Marv Levy and Tom Coughlin
    Levy Coughlin
Seasons as head coach 17 16
    NFL games coached 274 274
    Overall NFL record, including playoffs 154-120 (.562) 153-121 (.558)
    Playoff record 11-8 11-7
Place on all-time coaching wins list 17 18
    Playoff seasons 8 9
    Super Bowl wins 0 1

I've been a Montreal Alouettes fan for a long time. He was awesome for the Als.

Coughlin has obviously lost this team.

Levy was great and deserves to be in the HOF -- 4 SBs in a row is impressive, even if they were losses. Depressing impressive should have it's own one-word description -- Levyesque.

And Dan Reeves -- 3 SBs with Denver and 1 with Atlanta. All loses, but with 2 different teams and 2 of those appearances were back-to-back.

    +1. Or Gruden.

And do they allow trades just before the SB? I was thinking Eli and a # 1 for Matty Ice.

If TC resigned after a SB 46 victory, and you were only allowed 2 coaches to choose from, would you take Levy or Reeves?

I'd go with Levy -- already been there, done that with Reeves anyway. Plus, Levy's teams were much better than whatever Reeves ever put on the field, iMO.
