Interesting stats on the OFFICIATING crew for SB46

With an assist from ESPN Stats & Information, I've put together a chart showing where Parry's crew ranks among the 17 crews in various penalty calls. The NFL shifts to all-star crews for championship games and the Super Bowl.

Parry's low ranking for unnecessary roughness appears offset, at least somewhat, by a higher number of calls for generic personal fouls
    .

    2011 John Parry

Penalty type John Parry Calls NFL Maximum Parry Rank
    Offsides 23 23 1
    Facemask 11 11 1
    Encroachment 7 9 2
    Offensive holding 53 69 3
    Delay of game 13 17 3
    Personal foul 9 12 3
    Defensive 12 on field 3 9 3
    Roughing the passer 9 13 4
    Offside on free kick 2 5 4
    Illegal shift 3 6 5
    Offensive pass interference 5 10 6
    Illegal formation 5 8 6
    Intentional grounding 3 5 6
    Defensive pass interference 14 24 7
    Defensive holding 10 19 7
    Illegal substitution 1 5 7
    Unsportsmanlike conduct 3 10 8
    Neutral zone infraction 6 11 9
    Illegal block above waist 6 15 11
    Horse collar 1 5 11
    False start 31 52 13
    Illegal use of hands 3 11 13
    Illegal contact 3 9 13
    Unnecessary roughness 2 21 17

Parry is the official for the superbowl, and here is what I get from this:

Offensive Holding calls he ranks 3rd. Does this benefit the Giants fast DEs vs the Pats Oline?

Offsides and Facemasks his crew ranks #1.

Roughing the passer he ranks 4th. Does this favor the Pats and Brady getting protected?

I feel like unless its blatant they wont call it. Brady wont look like a little ***** at the superbowl I dont think.

Number one in offsides penalties? Unless the ref is using a hard count I don't think that means anything.

LOL Of course, of all the officials they had to choose him. He's going to have a field day calling offsides and encroachment.
