Barclays is a joke for hockey. It was never intended for hockey, and they should have never attempted to squeeze a rink into it

It's OK for where I buy concert seats. Usually downstairs in sections 25 or 7, near the side of the stage.. I never sit upstairs or on the floor.

Former New York Islanders co-owner is released from prison

Sanjay Kumar, the former chairman and chief executive of Computer Associates, has been released from federal prison in Miami after serving nearly 10 years for orchestrating a $2.2 billion accounting fraud scheme.

Kumar, 55, a former co-owner of the New York Islanders with Charles Wang, was sentenced in 2006 to 12 years in prison and fined nearly $8 million. He began serving his sentence in February 2007.

Kumar, formerly of Upper Brookville, was released from a minimum security satellite camp in Miami on Jan. 25, said Justin Long, a spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Kumar previously was housed at a medium-security prison in Fairton, N.J.

Efforts to reach Kumar were unsuccessful. Read more.

Islanders’ Ryan Strome has broken wrist, likely out for season

Uuuuuuuuuugh... Last night's victory came with a price.

Islanders forward Ryan Strome suffered a broken right wrist in Wednesday night’s win over the Rangers and is likely done for the season, barring a deep playoff run, Newsday’s Arthur Staple reports.

Strome left the game in the second period after getting his arm caught at an awkward angle as Rangers defenseman Brady Skjei moved in to hit him. He quickly dropped his stick and a glove, made his way to the bench, then the dressing room. Read more.

John Tavares injury overshadows Islanders’ win against Devils

Probably out for the season. (Including playoffs)
    Stick a fork in them.

The Islanders might have suffered a big injury as captain John Tavares left the game late in the third period. Tavares fell awkwardly with 3:14 left while chasing a puck behind the Devils net, and immediately began clutching his left leg. He was helped off the ice and to the dressing room. Read more.

Barclays Center pitch would return Islanders to Nassau Coliseum, says LIA chief

The operators of Brooklyn’s Barclays Center are preparing a pitch to bring the Islanders back to the recently renovated Nassau Coliseum, according to Kevin Law, the president and chief executive of Long Island Association, the region’s largest business group.

Law said Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment, which runs both Barclays Center and Nassau Coliseum, will offer to make further “adjustments” to the Coliseum — such as adding seats — to address the Islanders’ potential concerns.

“Over the last two months, I have met with Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment, Islanders owners, I’ve met with the county and the state,” Law said. “What I just learned very recently is that BSE will be offering a plan to the Islanders to move them back to the Coliseum.” Read more.
