    We'll get the ball first

I read somewhere (forget where) that Belichick always likes to defer when the Patriots win the coin toss so they get the ball to start the 2nd half (I don't have stats, but I read that the last time they chose to receive was the 2008 season opener when Brady got hurt). Coughlin usually likes to receive the first kick off when we win the coin toss. So no matter who wins the coin toss, we should be receiving the ball first. Hopefully we can get off to a 7-0 start before Brady even touches the ball.

    Maybe we do but....

I can see the Giants having young guys a bit slow in the first quarter. We may even be down 10-7 at the half. Then we arrive late in the third and blow the Patriots out. 31-17. Our "D" and the anger of Brady throwing his helmet will be worth the wait. Eli will arrive in style. No more talk, the Giants are ELITE!!!!

i agree. lately we've been deferring. the OP is right that usually coughlin likes to get the ball first, but for the past month or two, coughlin has deferred more than received.

Deferring always seems logical. You want to start the second half with the ball, no matter who's up or down.

Hope we defer if we win..... have to have the ball first in the 2nd half.......like to think of it in a few ways......

If down by a TD or less that first drive in the 2nd halfcan be the drive that gives us the lead or ties and gains momentum......

Or we are up lets say 2TD's +.....you know the pats will get riled up in the locker rooms at half time.... this drive can be the KILLER drive if the giants march down and score and just kills their rah rah emotions

I don't expect it to happen this time cause it was a total shock last time.. U remember what halftime score was in Nov?

    Yep...0-0
Football has been very, very good to us.
Even though 2013 was a losing season, we can console ourselves with this fact-

    # of Super Bowl victories since 1985:

1-Chicago, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis, New Orleans, Seattle
2-Washington, Green Bay, Denver, Pittsburgh, Baltimore
    3-San Francisco, Dallas, New England
    4-New York Giants!!!!!

    Let's make it 5 in 2014 !!!
