    Forget about Njoku

    Giants cancelled their meeting with him. He's off the table.

    Unless by some miracle Howard falls to us at 23, JR will wait on TE. It is the only truly deep position in this draft this year, and good ones will still be available in the third round.

    I'm ok with letting Njoku go. He's a freakish athlete, yes, but we have other needs, and we can still get a good TE later. Don't forget also that we paid decent money for a FA TE in the offseason. I realize he's only a blocking specialist, but I still don't think we need to draft one in the first round (unless Howard miraculously falls).

    The Giants will either take an offensive tackle or a front seven guy at 23. You can take that to the bank.

    The OT picks aren't sexy but would be a great move if one of the top 3 guys is still there.

    I was dumb enough to watch more Reuben Foster games today. That guy is special and imo worth trading up for even in this draft if he slips. Unfortunately he'd have to slip to about pick 20 before we'd be able to afford the trade. Won't be mad if we miss out on Foster as long as he isn't in the division.

    I do wonder if cancelling on Njoku could be a smokescreen, making an attempt to keep our interests hidden this year?

    I didn't want to post this until draft day. But every day I'm here on the forums, I've thought of all the scenarios, I've looked at what the Giants seem to be building. Honestly, I think the person that the Giants are drafting with pick 23 is Njoku. I'm so confident in this in fact that this news does nothing to reject my feeling. When the Giants drafted Rhett Ellison it was a massive smokescreen. The more I've thought about it, the more I think I know what the Giants are doing. Rhett is going to be used as the FB on our team. The Giants got rid of Will Johnson and to me Rhett fills his role completely.

    I think the Giants are in love with Njoku. He has off the chart intangibles and he is very young. His arms are 35 1/4 inches long, his hands are 10 inches, he has size and can jump close to 38 inches. That arm length is the size they look for in LTs! His hand size is what the Giants look for in receivers. He has such a high ceiling that I think the Giants draft him. He has to work on his catching, he has to work on his blocking, but there's no reason why he can't learn those. You can't teach height, hand size, arm length, speed, and jumping ability. The Giants need another offensive weapon and I think he fits the bill.

    They will use Rhett in the traditional FB slot and Njoku as the starting TE. This cancellation of his meeting is a smokescreen to me. I think they are so in love with him as a player that they don't even need the meeting. It is just showing their cards too much. There I said it. I was going to keep my mouth closed but Njoku is the pick at 23 if he's there.

    Good. TE in the 1st is a waste in this draft IMO. And to me Njuke is a huge risk.

    With that said they probably take a RB.

    Maybe cancelling the meeting which appears to be a smokescreen is in fact the smokescreen. Get people talking about Njoku and then go Cunningham or McCaffrey or Cook. I just know draft day can't get here soon enough.
    LT (132.5) -> Strahan (141.5) -> Osi (65) -> Tuck (60.5) -> JPP (50) -> ???

    Maybe they dont want other teams to know we really like him and are trying to avoid what happened to us last year when teams jumped all around us because they knew who we wanted.

    Couldn't that be accomplished by not scheduling the meeting in the first place?

    i guess that could be a possibility but you're allowed 30 visits i believe it is. i'm not sure you can really identify who a team is taking by that.

    Its possible they cancelled because they have already spoken with him 3 times prior and wanted to save that visit for another prospect.
