Re: FULL NYG 2012 FREE AGENT LIST - Who to resign? Who to let go?

    OFFENSE
QB David Carr - For the right price
    WR Mario Manningam - Ditto
WR Devin Thomas - Ditto for ST and possible WR back up
    G Stacy Andrews - Doubtful
T Kareem McKenzie - For the right price if he doesn't retire.
T Tony Ugoh - Back up?

    DEFENSE
DE Dave Tollefson - Yes for the right price
DT Rocky Bernard - Will probably retire, but again only for a good price if he stays
DT Jimmy Kennedy - Same about the price
LB Jon Goff - Do the same deal they did for Kiwi. Give him a 1 year extension for a fair price to see if he has healed.
LB Chase Blackburn - Yes if you an get him for a good utility price like Tolle
S Deon Grant - Prob will retire, if not we might have Chad Jones back, and not sure how much he has left.
CB Terrell Thomas - See Goff
CB Aaron Ross - He plays big in big spots (especially in the playoffs) Doubt he stays, but hopefully for a decent price.
CB Derrick Martin - Up the team
CB Justin Tryon - Depends on the team
CB Will Blackmon - He had steady hands, but did not see anything great on ST or defense. So pass

    SPECIAL TEAMS
P Steve Weatherford - For sure. He is starting to look life Feagles but with a bigger leg. Sounds like he wants to stay as well.

I don't think this is too bad. The list looks long, but there's only a few guys that are key players.

Re-signing Weatherford is a must. The guy was outstanding this year. I would also like to see Tollefson return as well as Blackburn.

McKenzie I think can go. It's been fun KMac, but time's up.

I would also like to see Deon Grant return because I think his role on this team is underrated, but I doubt they'll bring him back.

As for the CB's, we have 5 free agent CB's. T2 is probably going to get a "show-me" offer. So it will probably be completely up to him if he returns or not. What about Aaron Ross? He got a lot better as the year went on. He might be worth re-signing.

The big decision on here is Manningham. I would like to see him return, but I have a feeling he's going to demand more money than he's worth.

I took out most of the depth players because you just never know who out of them is coming back, but this is who I see being re-signed out of the core guys.

Re: FULL NYG 2012 FREE AGENT LIST - Who to resign? Who to let go?

    OFFENSE

QB David Carr – don’t care. Hope we never need a backup QB

WR Mario Manningam – I want to bring him back, but money may be an issue. He’ll
probably want more money than we’re willing to give to a #3 WR (especially
since if we give him a big contract we need to give Cruz a big extension too).
Also I heard that he wants to play for a warm weather team.

WR Devin Thomas – Who? Don’t care if he comes back

G Stacy Andrews – Who? but on the other hand, Oline is a priority for us this
    offseason

T Kareem McKenzie – Oline is a priority for us this year but at 32 he’s
starting to get old. Don’t know what will happen with him.

T Tony Ugoh – See Andrews

    DEFENSE

DE Dave Tollefson – solid backup, would be willing to bring him back for the
right price especially if Osi forces a trade

DT Rocky Bernard – Made a good impact as a backup, I’d bring him back

    DT Jimmy Kennedy – Who?

LB Jon Goff – If he’s healthy I’d bring him back, but he hasn’t proven to me he’s
ready to be a starter. Even if we bring him back I would want to bring in a
veteran LB or draft one in the first 3 rounds.

LB Chase Blackburn – Definitely earned another contract

S Deon Grant – wouldn’t be surprised if he retired, but if he wants to keep
playing I say we give him another contract, especially because he’s a great “locker
    room guy.”

CB Terrell Thomas – If he’s healthy bring him back

CB Aaron Ross – Bring him back. We need to resign either Ross or TT or both.

CB Derrick Martin – Who? Is this the guy that recovered the fumble in the NFC
Championship game? Since that’s the only thing I know him for I wouldn’t be care
    if he walked.

    CB Justin Tryon – Who?

CB Will Blackmon – has been solid as a return man but haven’t seen him play CB
too much. I would bring him back even if it’s just to run back returns. Also,
we can’t let 5 CBs walk.

    SPECIAL TEAMS

P Steve Weatherford – lock him up

I think WR Domenik Hixon is a FA too. I would let him walk
because he gets hurt too much. We don’t need him, especially if we can resign
    Manningham.

There is a few missing off that list. I've seen a list that had us at 20 FAs.

Re: FULL NYG 2012 FREE AGENT LIST - Who to resign? Who to let go?

I'm glad to see a lot of agreement with Weatherford so far.

The only thing against getting another completely non-Giant free agent WR (if Manningham takes the $$ route) for the Giants are the Draft and the fact that Eli is not throwing the ball his way no matter the name until trust and reliability is established, which will take time.

Also, we're talking about (at best) a 3rd WR position here. Not a lot of money and not what top tier free agent WRs are looking for either.
